PRESS CONFERENCE
“Today was our first official game of the season and our first as a newly-formed team. The scoreline hurts, but there are positives we can build on. We went into half-time at 5–1 and showed that we can create chances, even under pressure.
Some players had to fill roles out of position, and we missed key squad members, but that will change as the season develops. We’ll improve our match fitness, sharpen our shape, and learn to play as a team. This is just the start, and with consistency and commitment, we’ll grow stronger week by week.”
REFEREE REPORT – STEFAN RUBIN
Unfortunately, the referee’s performance in this fixture fell well short of the expected standard. From the outset, decision-making was inconsistent and heavily biased towards the opposition, leaving Armada players and supporters frustrated. Several key incidents were judged unfairly, with clear fouls against Armada ignored while similar challenges from the home side were quickly penalised.
The awarding of the first-half penalty to Bellford Rovers was highly contentious, with minimal contact yet no hesitation in pointing to the spot. By contrast, Armada appeals for fouls in dangerous positions were repeatedly waved away. The lack of balance in decisions created an uneven playing field.
Furthermore, the referee failed to maintain effective control of the game. Repeated dissent and time-wasting by the opposition were not addressed, which allowed the game to slip further out of control. This not only impacted the flow of the match but also added to the frustration of Armada players who felt that fair treatment was lacking throughout.
