Armada U18 in action against Expect Tolouse, for their 6:35pm KO at GOALS Perry Barr.

It was a game to savour as both teams need points to further them along the table. Unfortunately, due to a technical error the game missed the first 5 minutes of the game and we managed to catch up later on.

Both teams at each other wanting to score goals, but ETL strike first within the first minute. That was a shocker, Armada players still looking to see if the referee even blew his whistle. Armada restart and get the ball moving about quite quickly and Ubayd manages to get a goal himself, the playing field is level again, an intense first few minutes.

ETL not having any of it as they prepare an attack of their own, this causes the Armada players to switch to a defensive 3:1 formation, ETL still manage to get another 2 goals past to go ahead. That's good teamwork by the Armada lads they made it difficult but the opposition managed to get through, Armada not giving up just yet as Najed slots in his first goal of the game. Interesting change on the 5th minute as Amir comes off and Osman comes on. Osman comes back to playing after a short spell of illness.

The two striker partnership of Osman and Ubayd is looking fruitful as Ubayd scores a rifle shot for a penalty and then manages to set-up Osman with a lovely through ball. Armada defence holding it tight at the back as Mason shows everyone that he is The Last Man Standing, he's intercepting balls, blocking shots and creating options for the strikers, it's a wonderful display of football from Armada.

ETL trying hard to get back into the game by getting Armada to close them down from the front, which exposes Mason at the back, they create a long ball chance and its scored by ETL. Armada not having any of it and get the game re-started, they lose possession but ETL can't capitalise on a long ball and Najed gets the ball and goes on a run of his own and beats two defenders and the goalkeeper and finds the back of the net. Armada happy and switch off for a few seconds as ETL set-up for the restart, referee blows for the kick and a shot from ETL finds the back of the net, that's what happens when you switch off momentarily. Armada manager and coach not happy with that goal going in, a few words to the team before the restart from the manager gets them fired up again. A wonderful bit of trickery from Ubayd again to find the back of the net and that completes his hat-trick, sensational performance from this young lad.

Just before the half Armada make a substitution, Osman < OFF, Nani > ON

Second half gets underway and its Armada that look the more sharper as within minutes Najed scores his third to complete his hat trick and then another great link up between Najed and Mason sees Mason score a goal. Armada are able to hold off ETL for a good eight minutes before they are able to score a goal.

A shot from ETL gets saved by Chilton, only to find himself injured, he's replaced immediately with Tran going in goals. The change also encourages Armada to make to more changes, Nani & Najed < OFF, Osman & Jibran > ON. Its a fantastic performance from goalie to defence to attack, the lads hold off attack after attack but the ETL attack gets through one last time as they score a goal. Armada lads start to display their defensive formation and there ability to counter-attack from this position has been great.

Managers comments after the game, "The lads had an absolutely great game, they were able to push forward and score goals as well as defend as a team. The key for the lads was the ability to change the formation to include attacking and defensive duties, this was a highlight of the match. We do need to remain switched on and focused on the job at hand as we saw from that goal from kick off, this wasn't great to watch but encourages us to do better.

Man of the Match goes to Luke, save after saves were made by Luke and it was a great all round performance, shame he got injured but lets hope he bounces back from this. A big well done to both Ubayd and Najed who both got hat tricks today as well as Osman and Mason for getting goals. Looking forward to the next fixture".
